Senior Michigan gymnast Annie Maxim hasn’t had the typical college experience. Her story of landing the senior captain role is relatively unknown but I was lucky enough to catch up with Annie on her time in college gymnastics, transferring, the University of Michigan, being a leader, and her monumental comeback.

The 2018 NCAA gymnastics season is still months away, but it's never too early to get to know the incoming freshman class for each team. Here's a breakdown of the new additions Michigan has made for next year.

As graduation comes and goes, here are some of the routines we're going to miss from the Class of 2017:

While much of the focus on this year's freshman class fell on former big-name elites such as Maggie Nichols, Madison Kocian, and MyKayla Skinner, there were several other former U.S. elites who quietly made a name for themselves on their teams.

Michigan sophomore Emma McLean had one of the highlights of the Big Ten Championships this past month with a near-perfect vault. She has contributed on vault and floor in all 12 meets this season and has brought huge scores to the Wolverines lineup.

The 18 teams at the Gainesville, Lincoln, and Morgantown regionals are set to battle this weekend for six spots at the NCAA Championships. The top two teams from each of Saturday's regionals will advance to the second NCAA semifinals session on April 14 in St. Louis. If the top three seeds in these regionals advance to the Super Six, it would set up a rematch of the SEC Championships, which saw LSU finish on top ahead of Florida and Alabama.

With 10 teams in the the largest gymnastics conference in the nation, there's definitely a lot of gymnastics to watch at the Big Ten Championships. The championships will be split up into two sessions, where four teams will compete in the morning, and six in the evening. The seeds for the championships were determined by last weekend's Big Five meets, where the top performers qualified to the evening session. Here's who to watch for from each team, during each session.

Twenty-nine years have passed since the No. 17 Illinois Fighting Illini last defeated the No. 3 Michigan Wolverines. This Friday, the Illini look to use their home-field advantage to end the Wolverines’ streak. After only losing three routines and finishing second to Michigan at last year’s Big Ten Championships, this may be the year the streak ends.
