In the senior division, Leah Smith, a University of Washington signee, delivered the highest scoring floor routine of the competition in a clutch fourth-rotation performance, finishing with a 38.800 to edge Alex Theodorou of Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Lights, who finished with a 38.550, and Lilly Hudson of Fleming Island, Fla./Florida Elite, who finished with a 38.500.
Alicia Zhou earned top marks on balance beam and uneven bars en route to the junior title, finishing with a 38.375 and besting Avery Neff of South Jordan, Utah/Olympus Gymnastics, who finished with a 38.175 and Gabby Van Frayen of Lewis Center, Ohio/Gym X-treme, who finished with a 38.075 to round out the top three.
INDIANAPOLIS - Feb. 26, 2021 - Cameron Bock of Tustin, Calif./University of Michigan, topped a field of 27 competitors to claim the 2021 Winter Cup men’s all-around title Friday at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
Bock, who is in his senior season with the Wolverines, earned an 84.150 and finished nearly a full point ahead of runner-up Riley Loos of El Dorado Hills, Calif/Stanford University (83.250). World bronze medalist Yul Moldauer of Arvada, Colo./5280 Gymnastics, rounded out the top three, posting an 82.600 on the night.
Jordan Chiles of Vancouver, Wash./World Champions Centre was dominant during day one of the 2021 Winter Cup senior women’s all-around competition Saturday at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. An additional six senior gymnasts are slated to compete during tomorrow’s junior session, and their scores will be combined with the results from today’s competition.
The 19-year-old Chiles captured an impressive 57.050, posting high scores on vault, balance beam and floor exercise in her first national competition since the 2019 U.S. Gymnastics Championships following the cancellation of USA Gymnastics’ 2020 premier events season last May. Shilese Jones of Westerville, Ohio/Future Gymnastics Academy sits in second with 55.100 followed by Emily Lee of Los Gatos, Calif./West Valley Gymnastics School in third with 53.400.
The event also marked the long-awaited return to competition for 2016 Olympic gold medalist Laurie Hernandez of Old Bridge, N.J./Gym-Max Gymnastics, who competed on balance beam and floor exercise. World champions, Jade Carey of Phoenix, Ariz./Arizona Sunrays, Sunisa Lee of St. Paul, Minn./Midwest Gymnastics Center and Riley McCusker of Brielle, N.J./Arizona Sunrays also competed select events. Lee notched the day’s high score on uneven bars with a 15.050.
Region 3 continued its Elite Team Cup dominance capturing its sixth title in as many years. Hong earned an 80.700 to lead all competitors. Fellow Junior National Team members Kai Uemura (Region 5) of Chicago, Ill./Lakeshore Academy of Art Gymnastics (77.450) and Vahe Petrosyan (Region 1) of Van Nuys, Calif./Gymnastics Olympica USA (77.250) rounded out the top 3 all-around athletes.
Hong earned top scores on still rings (13.950), vault (15.000) and parallel bars (13.700), while Uemura took the high score on floor exercise (13.550) and Petrosyan topped the standings on pommel horse (13.500) and horizontal bar (12.450).
Region 3 led the way with a score of 306.950. Region 1 finished in second place with 303.750, and Region 8 took third with 300.300. Region 1 posted the top score on horizontal bar. Region 3 took the high score on all other events.
The Elite Team Cup is a regional competition in which teams of six Junior Elite athletes vie for national bragging rights.

Region 1, was comprised of team members Arun Chhetri, Culver City, Calif/Gymnastics Olympica USA; Toma Murakawa, Van Nuys, Calif./Gymnastics Olympica USA; Joseph Pepe, Peoria, Ariz./North Valley Gymnastics; Petrosyan; Cailen Walker, Hercules, Calif./Head Over Heels; and Landon Wu, West Sacramento, Calif./Elevate Gymnastics Academy.
Region 8 team members included Max Bereznev, Woodstock, Ga./Zenit Gymnastics; Jaden Blank, Lakewood Ranch, Fla./EVO Gymnastics; Jacob Foster, Knoxville, Tenn./GymTek Academy; Alex Nitache, Knoxville, Tenn./GymTek Academy; Garrett Schooley, Sarasota, Fla./EVO Gymnastics; and Danilo Viciana, Marietta, Ga./Cartersville Twisters.
