UCLA, LSU, Oklahoma & Denver Advance To 2019 NCAA Finals

After placing in the top two in their respective semifinals, UCLA, LSU, Oklahoma, and Denver have qualified to the first Four on the Floor NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championship final. In semifinal I, UCLA finished in first with a 197.6750, and LSU finished in second with a 197.5125. In our fourth and final installment on the most difficulty in the 2018 NCAA Super Six, we are taking a look at vault. Specifically, we're analyzing which teams had the most 10.0 start value vaults. In 2016, the Yurchenko full was devalued to a 9.95 start value, and many teams since then have reacted by upping the difficulty of the vaults their gymnasts compete. For the third installment in our series on the most difficulty in the 2018 NCAA Super Six, we're taking a look at floor exercise. Floor scores are calculated similarly to bars and beam scores: Gymnasts start from a 9.5 and add in difficulty value and connection value in order to get to a 10.0 start value. Nebraska had a solid meet at the Elevate the Stage in Augusta, Georgia, on Friday night and earned the quad-meet win with a 196.700 against Stanford (195.925), Illinois (195.900), and Georgia (195.825). Taylor Houchin posted a 9.900 to share second place on bars and the Huskers posted a 49.300 event total. Oklahoma took on UCLA at Pauley Pavilion Sunday in a meet that did not disappoint. The Sooners came out on top 198.050 to 197.950 with a second straight week scoring over the 198 mark. The defending national champion Oklahoma Sooners and star Maggie Nichols opened their season on the road in Athens, Georgia, in front of a sell-out Bulldog crowd. It was the second meet in four days for the GymDogs, who struggled in their opener against Alabama.
