SALT LAKE CITY – Two-time World champions and two of the nation's top elite gymnasts - Kara Eaker and Grace McCallum - locked in their futures with Utah gymnastics on National Signing Day. As two of the most decorated signees in program history, the duo will vie for a 2021 Olympic Team berth prior to continuing their illustrious gymnastics careers in Salt Lake City.

The 2018 NCAA gymnastics season is still months away, but it's never too early to get to know the incoming freshman class for each team. Here's a breakdown of the new additions Utah has made for next year.

As graduation comes and goes, here are some of the routines we're going to miss from the Class of 2017:

The Utah Utes concluded a strong season at the 2017 NCAA Championships with a fifth-place finish at the Super Six final.

When the Utah gymnastics team experienced two season-ending injuries early this season, MaKenna Merrell knew it was her time to step up. A year after competing on mostly floor exercise, Merrell has grown into a solid contributor for the Red Rocks in her sophomore season and has appeared in the all-around 10 times heading into the NCAA Championships in St. Louis on April 14.

Six berths to the NCAA Championships are on the line this weekend for 18 teams at the Champaign, Fayetteville, and Seattle regionals. The top two teams from each of Saturday's regionals will advance to the first NCAA semifinals session on April 14 in St. Louis. UCLA, Utah, and Oklahoma--the top three seeds in these regionals--will likely be battling it out to advance to the Super Six. The NCAA Championships could also set up the first of two head-to-head competitions for former U.S. elites Maggie Nichols of Oklahoma and MyKayla Skinner of Utah, whose teams did not face off this season.
