Over 130 gymnasts from 35 countries are set to compete in Glasgow, Scotland, for the 2018 European Championships. The women's competition begins on August 2 and concludes August 12. FloGymnastics will be streaming starting August 4, the senior team finals August 4, and the junior and senior event finals August 5, as well as portions of the men's competition on August 9-10 and 12.

With the 2018 GK U.S. Classic right around the corner — this weekend in Columbus, Ohio — we thought it would be fun to throw it back to previous Classics and list some of our favorite routines. 

One of the most exciting skills to learn and teach as gymnasts move up through the optional levels is the major release on bars. There are a variety of these skills that gymnasts can add to their routine to fulfill requirements and earn bonus. Typically, the most common three are the Jaeger, Tkatchev, and Gienger.

When Peng-Peng Lee stepped off the podium after nailing her beam routine in UCLA's third rotation during the Super Six, many thought she had just competed for the final time in a Bruins uniform. The redshirt senior put together the routine that everyone was waiting for and was rewarded with her first career perfect 10 in the event.

Peng-Peng Lee picked up her second 10.0 of the season on the uneven bars during Sunday's Senior Day at Pauley Pavillon. The UCLA senior got nice height on her Ray and had great form throughout the exercise. 

Kaytianna McMillan nabbed her first career 10.0 in Saturday's meet against Illinois-Chicago. McMillian, who was honored for the Beavers' Senior Day festivities, picked up the perfect score in the fifth spot in the lineup.

Kyla Ross grabbed her second perfect 10 of the season and again it came on the uneven bars in Saturday night's meet against Utah. The UCLA freshman has scored both of her 10.0s this season on the road.

NCAA Gymnastics tends to emphasize execution over difficulty. The scoring is based on the 10.0 system from the J.O. Code of Points, and performing a clean routine that hits all the composition requirements is favored over throwing more difficult skills that might be a bit messy. That being said, many gymnasts will still include difficult skills and connections in their routines for bonus.

The Women's Uneven Bars Final will be one of the tightest races at the top, with the top eight qualifiers making a run for the gold, silver and bronze medals. To give you an idea of just how close this race will be, the qualifying round ended with the top four gymnasts finishing only 0.183 apart. Unlike every other event final, all top eight gymnasts finished with scores above 15.0, demonstrating just how strong this field is.
