
U.S. Trampolinists & Rhythmic Gymnasts Claim Medals, Junior Pan Am Games

CALI, Colombia, December 4, 2021 – U.S. athletes claimed gold in men’s synchronized trampoline Saturday on the final day of the trampoline gymnastics competition at the 2021 Junior Pan American Games in Cali, Colombia. Elijah Vogel of Longmont, Colo./Elevated Trampoline Sports Academy added a silver in men’s individual trampoline, while Nayenne Pollini Ashenaffi of Reseda, Calif./Rhythmic Academy of Los Angeles and Sarah Mariotti of San Diego, Calif./Emerald City Academy of Rhythmic Gymnastics took silver and bronze, respectively, in the rhythmic gymnastics individual all-around. The U.S. rhythmic group, comprised of Isabelle Connor of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Camilla Feeley of Wheeling, Ill., Lili Mizuno of Northbrook, Ill., Elizaveta Pletneva of Wheeling, Ill., and Nicole Sladkov, Vernon Hills, Ill., finished 11th in the qualification round at the Tokyo Olympic Games Friday at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre. TOKYO, August 6, 2021 – For the first time under the current qualification system, the U.S. was represented by two athletes in the rhythmic gymnastics individual all-around qualifications at an Olympic Games Friday at Ariake Gymnastics Centre. Evita Griskenas of Orland Park, Ill., and Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill., finished 12th and 13th, respectively. Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center swept the clubs and ribbon titles, posting a 25.450 in clubs and 20.850 in ribbon to close out the night. INDIANAPOLIS, March 28, 2021 – Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center took sixth place in the hoop apparatus final (21.800) and eighth place in the ball final (20.300) to close out the first international competition of 2021. Zeng and teammate Evita Griskenas of Orland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center finished seventh and 27th, respectively, in this weekend’s 2021 Sofia (Bulgaria) World Cup all-around competition. DES MOINES, Iowa, February 28, 2021 – Four-time Pan American gold medalist Evita Griskenas of Orland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center bested the field at the 2021 Rhythmic Challenge to claim the senior all-around title, while 13-year-old Gemma Gow of Newton, Mass./Nelys School of Rhythmic Gymnastics took the top spot in the junior division. The event, held at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa, over the weekend, marked the return of elite national rhythmic gymnastics in the U.S. following the cancellation of USA Gymnastics’ 2020 premier events season last year.
