Biles wins by record margin
With her score of 58.999, Biles won the women's all-around title by a record-setting margin of 2.001. She began the competition with an excellent Cheng on vault for a 15.233. Her second-highest event score of the day actually came from her next event as she hit a fantastic uneven bars set, complete with a stuck double-double dismount for a 14.733. Up next was beam, where she earned a 14.633. Heading into her final routine of the day, Biles needed just a 12.300 to secure the title. Her floor routine wasn't perfect and she went out-of-bounds, but her 14.400 was more than enough for the gold medal.

Tang Xijing ends Chinese all-around medal drought
A Chinese women's gymnast hadn't stood on a world championships all-around podium since 2011 when Yao Jinnan won bronze, but Xijing ended that today with her silver medal. Xijing's second-place finish tied 2010 world all-around silver medalist Jiang Yuyuan for the highest Chinese placement in the world all-around competition for China.
Xijing earned a 56.899 in today's all-around competition, highlighted by a 14.533 on bars and a 14.600 on beam. She vaulted a nice Yurchenko double for a 14.166 and hit a good floor routine for a 13.600.
