Elevate The Stage Routines To Keep An Eye Out For In 2019
Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Illinois, and Nebraska will return to Elevate the Stage in 2019, so we're bringing back routines that scored well at past meets.
FloGymnastics will be covering the Elevate the Stage meets once again in 2019. This season, Elevate the Stage is coming to Toledo, Ohio, and Birmingham, Alabama.
A few NCAA teams from last season's meets will return to the podium this season, also bringing along some top scoring routines from previous Elevate the Stage competitions. Take a look back at routines that did well at Elevate last season and could be seen again in Toledo or Birmingham.
Rae Balthazor - UB, Illinois
2018 was a breakout season for the Colorado native as she was a consistent all-around competitor for the Illini and even qualified to her first NCAA Championships after winning a share of the floor title at the Salt Lake City regional. With her great toe-point and big Tkatchev, Balthazor earned a 9.900 for this bars routine. Balthazor and the Illini will be at the 2019 Elevate the Stage stop in Toledo.
Gracie Day - UB, Auburn
Although she was in the middle of Auburn's bars lineup, that didn't keep Day from scoring a near-perfect 9.95 on this bar routine. She has excellent form, nice connections and a tricky double Arabian dismount that she can stick. Day will join the Tigers in Birmingham for the annual rivalry meet against Alabama.
Rachel Dickson - UB, Georgia
Dickson anchored the Gymdogs' bar lineup with this dynamic routine. Her routine includes a big Ray release and a double layout dismount. In addition, Dickson does a good job keeping her legs together during transitions and hitting her handstands, which helped her earn a 9.900 on this routine. She'll compete with the Gymdogs at Elevate the Stage in Birmingham for a quad meet.
Lexi Funk - FX, Michigan
Funk has powerful tumbling and controlled landings that make her a great gymnast to have in the Wolverines' floor lineup. She also does a good job with her leaps, which helped her earn a team-high 9.900 on this routine. She will be at Elevate the Stage in Toledo with the Wolverines in 2019.
Lexi Graber - BB, Alabama
Although 2018 was just her freshman season, Graber has already made a great impression and became a top competitor for the Tide. She has career highs of 9.900 or higher on every event -- five such performances on the beam, including this routine at Elevate the Stage. She has some tricky skills, like a back handspring layout to two feet and a front aerial to scale (formerly known as a Liukin). Graber and the Crimson Tide will be at Elevate the Stage in Birmingham to compete against Auburn.
Taylor Houchin - UB, Nebraska
Houchin is a great event specialist for the Huskers, and she competed bars for them in every meet last season. She's excellent at hitting her handstands, has some good difficulty with a full pirouette to Tkatchev and sticks her nice double-tuck dismount. That helped this routine earn a 9.900. Houchin and the Huskers will be at Elevate the Stage Toledo.
Taylor Krippner - BB, Auburn
She's quick on beam but does all of her skills effortlessly, including her cat leap to front aerial to beat jump. Krippner has a great rhythm and gets nice extension on her leaps. Her stellar routine at Elevate the Stage Huntsville last season earned a team-high 9.900. Krippner and the Tigers will be back to compete against the Alabama Crimson Tide at Elevate in Birmingham.
Abby Milliet - FX, Auburn
While floor routines can change every season, Milliet has shown she can compete a fantastic floor routine on podium at Elevate the Stage while competing against Auburn's big SEC rivals, Alabama. At the 2018 Elevate the Stage meet in Huntsville, Alabama, she earned a career-high 9.95 with this floor routine to earn the event title. Milliet will compete at her final Elevate meet in Birmingham.
Sydney Snead - BB, Georgia
Snead's routine has a nice flow to it, and she does well connecting all of her skills, including a triple series at the start. She keeps it quick but executes everything with nice form, which helped her earn a 9.925 for this routine last season. Snead will join her fellow Gymdogs at Elevate in Birmingham for an NCAA quad meet.
Sabrina Vega - FX, Georgia
Vega knows how to perform, making her fantastic on floor. But she also has excellent form, which makes her tumbling look wonderful. In addition, she knows how to control her landings, helping her Elevate floor routine last season score a near-perfect 9.975. Vega will compete at Elevate in 2019 with the Gymdogs in Birmingham.
