Pac Rim UPDATE: Hurd Withdraws From Event Finals
Morgan Hurd has been pulled from event finals at Pacific Rims due to an injury sustained from a fall in which she landed on her neck.
Senior international elite Morgan Hurd just announced in an Instagram post that “a decision has been made” for her to opt out of the competition today due to a scary fall last night in the all-around finals at the 2018 Pacific Rim Championships in Medellin, Colombia.
Hurd slipped a foot on her piked full-in off beam last night and landed on the back of her head and neck area before rolling onto her knees. Sheer silence followed a collective gasp from the crowd as fans watch Hurd remained still, on her hands and knees for several seconds.
She appeared clearly disoriented upon standing up, stumbling off the mat after saluting until her coaches and medical staff helped her make her way back to a training area.
Hurd returned to compete floor, and USAG confirmed in a tweet that the team doctor cleared her to continue. This evaluation spanned from the time she fell to the time the team was gathering together to march to the next event.
Morgan Hurd has been evaluated and cleared by the team doctor. She is currently warming up for floor.
