10 Routines You Might Have Missed From An Exciting Weekend In Gymnastics

Gymnastike was busy this weekend bringing you coverage from some exciting gymnastics meets including a live stream from the number one NCAA match-up of #1 OU, #2 LSU, #8 Arkansas, and #28 Iowa State at the Metroplex Challenge. The Metroplex Challenge also had a high class club competition and we streamed video of the top level 10s all day Sunday. In other NCAA competitions, we provided video coverage of then ranked #4 Michigan and #7 Nebraska as well as Illinois and Penn State.

With so much going on, you might have missed some of the best routines! Not to worry, we have compiled a list for you of the top ten routines you do not want to have missed from this weekend. Read and watch below!

10. Mary Jane Horth, Illinois - 9.925 UB
Illinois bars anchor Mary Jane Horth swung to a huge 9.925 with a gorgeous bar set. She competes a shaposh half (a release rarely seen in NCAA) as well as a huge geinger to shoot over. She finished her routine with a stuck dismount. Watch the routine here.

9. Nicole Artz, Michigan - FX 9.975
The number one ranked floor gymnast in the country delivered yet again with an outstanding routine. Nicole Artz opened with a pike full in that is nearly a layout and finishes with a sky-high double pike. Watch the impressive set here.

8. Grace Williams, Nebraska - BB 9.825
Freshman Grace Williams performs her beam routine like a seasoned veteran. She is aggressive and confident and shows control and command of her routine. Her first skill is an impressive back handspring, layout step out, layout step out series that is so solid you it almost looks to easy for her. She’s perfect the rest of her routine until taking a step back on her dismount. Watch this routine here.

7. Brenna Dowell, Oklahoma - UB 9.9
Freshman Sooner and former international elite Brenna Dowell is incredible to watch on bars. She has kept in a few of her big skills from elite including a Church release and a lay out full in dismount. Watch her routine here.

6. Lacy Dagen, San Mateo - BB 9.725
Future Florida Gator Lacy Dagen has impeccable form and impressive skills. With her stellar performance this weekend she qualified as the senior for the Nastia Liukin Cup. She competes with a high level of poise and confidence and you can watch her beam routine here.

5. Rheagan Courville - UB 9.95
Senior Rheagan Courville is currently ranked second on bars in the nation. She performed a beautiful routine this weekend for a 9.95. Her flawless lines, height on releases, and smooth swing propel her to consistently high scores every week. Watch the bars set here.

4. Chae Campbell - FX 9.75, Metroplex
This up and coming star is definitely one to watch for! In her very first meet as a level 10 she scored a 38.575 and qualified to the Nastia Liukin Cup. She scored a 9.925 on vault but equally impressive was her floor routine. She opens with a huge full in and performs her routine as if she’s been on an international stage before. Watch the floor routine here (and watch for adorable Lizzy LeDuc cheering in the corner!).

3. Ashleigh Gnat, LSU - VT 9.85
This sophomore is one of LSU’s secret weapons! She pulled out a double twisting Yurchenko this weekend and it was gorgeous. She got a huge block of the table and finished her twists way before the landing. You might have to re-watch this video a couple times but yes, it was a double! Watch the huge vault here.

2. Lloimincia Hall - FX 9.925, LSU
It’s viral sensation Lloimincia Hall! Need we say more? Watch her dynamic and crowd pleasing routine here.

1. Oklahoma’s Floor Rotation- 49.5
This might sound like a cop-out but we just had to include Oklahoma’s entire floor rotation. Every single routine was incredible to watch and OU displayed a level of artistry unmatched by any other team. OU is ranked #1 on floor as a team and this is a must see rotation. Watch Oklahoma’s floor routines here.
