USA Gymnastics President and CEO Kerry Perry wrote a message addressed to "U.S Women's National Team athletes and their parents," posted to USAG's website on Monday, May 21. Good afternoon. I want to share some updates with you as we move forward. First, let me begin by apologizing for the disruption and confusion created at last week’s U.S. Women’s National Team Training Camp. It was truly unfortunate and I’m sorry for the impact it had on your athlete and family.
Today, I officially named Annie Heffernon as the interim Vice President of the Women’s Program. I am confident Annie will provide strong leadership and consistency during this time of transition. Annie is at the Developmental Camp that begins today, and runs through Thursday, May 24, to support the athletes, coaches and their training.
As I shared Friday, we are making changes throughout our organization to create an empowered culture focused on the highest standards of care and well-being for our athletes. We are posting the High-Performance Training Coordinator position today on the website, and we will share information about the new interim National Training Camp location shortly. I will continue to update you about developments, and I am always happy to answer any of your questions.
Thank you,
Kerry Perry
