Last night over 15,000 fans crowded into the Huntsman Center to cheer Utah on to victory in an intense meet against Georgia. After three weeks on the road, the Red Rocks were happy to be home. They put on a show for their home crowd, clinching their fifth win in a row.
Georgia finished the first rotation just behind Utah, fueled by senior Brittany Rogers' beautiful 9.925, bringing the Gymdogs total to a 49.125 bar score. Utah seniors Kassandra Lopez, Kailah Delaney, and Breanna Hughes kicked off the Senior Night celebration with vault scores of 9.775, 9.85, and 9.875 respectively, giving the Utes a 49.225.

Both teams turned up the heat in the second rotation. Every Georgia vault scored 9.8+ highlighted by a 9.9 from GiGi Marino, and 9.925s from Rogers and Sydney Snead, bringing the Gymdogs total to 49.375 . Over on bars, Utah fiercely defended their lead, with several scores above the 9.9 mark, including a 9.9 from Lopez, 9.925s from Hughes and freshman Sabrina Schwab, and a stellar 9.95 from junior Baely Rowe.

Georgia earned 49.275 on floor, led by 9.875s from powerhouse seniors Jay and Mary Beth Box, while Lopez dazzled the screaming crowd with a career high 9.95 on beam. Utah headed in to the final rotation leading by 2.5 tenths.
Georgia put up a good fight on beam - Box's beautiful 9.95 followed sophomore Natalie Vaculik's 9.725, Jay's 9.8, 9.85s from Broussard and sophomore Vivi Babalis, and Rogers' 9.9 - but Utah was undeterred. Lewis and Schwab both earned 9.925s, setting the stage for Hughes to bring the entire Huntsman Center to their feet. The crowd was absolutely deafening as her perfect 10 was announced, securing Utah's victory with a 197.675 over Georgia's 197.125.
It was no small feat for Georgia to surpass 197 on the road in front of 15,000 Utah fans, and both teams are looking strong headed into Both teams head off to conference championships this weekend.
