Georgia dazzles to season high win over Arkansas



In their final SEC meet of the year, the Georgia Gym Dogs dazzled to a season high and win over Arkansas, 197.65-195.975. In their annual alumni meet the Gym Dogs dominated all afternoon to improve on their RQS score.

The Arkansas Razorbacks were able to avoid counting a fall on their first event, bars, and rallied to a team score of 49.225.  A pair of 9.9s fromKatherine Grable and Shelby Salmon highlighted their first rotation.

The #1 ranked bars team continues to impress posting a season high 49.675. All six routines were a 9.9 or higher.  Kat Hires set a new career high on bars with a 9.925. Lindsay Cheek received one 10 on her bars routine to post a 9.95.Chelsea Davis closed out the rotation with a near perfect routine scoring a 9.95 for the Gym Dogs.

On vault Arkansas dipped below the 49 mark, to post team score of 48.95.Kathrine Grable posted a 9.925 to lead the team. At the half way point Arkansas trailed Georgia 99.05-98.175.

In the third rotation sophomore Mary Beth Box got Georgia off to a strong start on beam with a 9.85. Freshman Keira Brown making her home debut on beam was able to handle the pressure after a fall with a 9.825. With another lights out performance Lindsay Cheek posted a 9.95. Kaylan Earls hitting her routine in the anchor spot to score a 9.95 allowed the Gym Dogs to escape counting a fall and salvage a great team score of 49.35.

Arkansas in their third rotation moved to floor where they posted a 49.05 as a team. Once again Kathrine Grabel posted the teams highest score of 9.925. Sydnie Dillard and Amanda Wellick both added a 9.8 for the Razorbacks on floor.

With a new lineup in place the Gym Dogs were able to post a season high 49.25.Kat Hires had a strong routine to match her season high on floor 9.85. Mary Beth Box added a 9.9 to match her career high. Kaylan Earls moved down in the lineup and was rewarded with a 9.925 for the Gym Dogs.

In their final event the Razorbacks were able to avoid counting a fall and posted a team score of 48.75 on balance beam. Kathrine Grabel anchored the event with a 9.85. Samantha Nelson hit a great routine as well to score a 9.8.

Kathrine Grabel took home another AA title for Arkansas with a 39. 6. Georgia’s Brittany Rogers followed with a 39.3.

Next Week:
Georgia will be at home next Saturday afternoon for senior night against Denver. Arkansas will be on the road again next Saturday as they travel to Lincoln, Nebraska.
