The No. 3 Florida Gators hosted the No. 5 Georgia Gym Dogs in an SEC battle. As expected the meet came down to the final rotation when the Gators took control with a NCAA high score on floor of 49.875. Florida made a statement tonight by posting a 198.075 over Georgia’s 196.70. Bridget Sloan and Kytra Hunter highlighted the meet both posting a perfect 10 on floor.

Florida-
The Florida Gators started their home slate on vault by posting a 49.35 as a team. Bridget Sloan scored a 9.925 followed by Kyrta Hunter with a 9.9.

Florida moved to bars where they closed the gap against the Gym Dogs posting a 49.45 as a team. Bridgette Caquatto posted a career high of 9.95. Florida also saw great routines from Kytra Hunter with a 9.9, Bridget Sloan and Mackenzie Caquatto with a 9.875.

Florida rebounded from an early rotation mistake to post a team total of 49.375.  Mackenzie Caquatto posted a 9.95 to lead the Gators. Claire Boyce made her beam debut posting a 9.8. Kyrta Hunter stuck her double back dismount to score a 9.9.

Florida capped off the meet with a huge floor rotation highlighted by Bridget Sloan and Kytra Hunter both posting a 10.0! Rachel Spicer had herself a career high of 9.975. Florida's 49.875 team score is the highest posted by any team this year.

Georgia-
The Georgia Gym Dogs continue to prove why they are ranked #1 on bars by scoring a 49.6 on bars to start the meet. Georgia was led by senior Lindsay Cheek with a near perfect, 9.975. Chelsea Davis  and Brittany Rogers followed with a 9.95.

The Gym Dogs took an early lead into vault and posted a 49.30. Lindsay Cheek posted a 9.925 followed by Brittany Rogers with a 9.9. Georgia gave away a few tenths with steps on the landings to allow the Gators to narrow the lead.

At the half way point of the meet Georgia had a slim lead of .1 over Florida. Georgia was led by a pair of sophomores, Brandie Jay and Mary Beth Box posting a 9.9. Georgia scored a 49.35 as a team.

In the final rotation the Georgia Gym Dogs, having to count a fall, posted a 48.45. Kaylan Earls closed the rotation with a 9.95. Lindsay Cheek and Mary Beth Box both posted a 9.8. Although having the lead through three rotations, Georgia’s falls on beam cost them the meet.

Bridget Sloan and Kytra Hunter won the all-around with a 39.7 for the Gators.

Up next: Georgia will return home to take on Kentucky next Saturday at 4pm. Florida will remain home against Oklahoma next Friday night.
